Understanding What Makes People Jealous

What makes people jealous? People get envious for many different reasons. Jealousy is irrational behavior that makes people look childish and foolish. After people have a jealous outburst, they are usually sorry for things they said or done. Let’s look at some of the reasons people might use to justify their jealousy.

People sometimes get envious when someone has something that they want. This could be an item or a person. A girl could get jealous over another girl’s boyfriend. A guy could get jealous over his friend’s car. Sometimes people may even get envious when it is someone they love who has what they want.

She is prettier than I am. How many girls have you heard say, I can’t stand that skinny witch”? They may not have been so nice as to call her a witch but instead used some foul language. This is very childish behavior

He always gets all the attention. Sometimes people get green-eyed over the amount of attention that someone else gets. They may feel that this other person is liked more than them and get envious. Even if this person is someone they love, they may still feel this way.

I wish she were not so happy. Some people get unhappy when other people are happy. They can not stand that other people may be happier than they are. Feelings like these lead to nothing but more unhappiness.

Although there are many other reasons that can make people jealous, these are the reasons most often sited. Anyone who is exhibiting this type of behavior often really needs to take some time to understand why. Why are they being so vindictive and immature? Why do they base there happiness on what other people have or do? The need to consider how wonderful life can be if they just sit back and enjoy it instead of being envious of other people. They should understand that there is always going to be people who have more than they do; and, there is always going to be people who have less than they do.
