I don’t know about you but personally I hate shopping for birthday gifts. I am the world’s worst gift giver. I never know what to get anyone. I have tried for years to figure out a better method for gift giving. Over the years I have given horrible gifts such as a ski helmet to someone that has never skied or ever will ski. The person I was buying the gift for was actually a motorcycle enthusiast.

I actually overheard him saying for his birthday he hoped he got a black helmet. Of course I did not know he meant a motorcycle helmet. Finally after giving several awful birthday gifts I decided to look online for tips and suggestions to giving great birthday gifts.

After doing some research online I finally have gotten much better at giving gifts. First I take the time to think about who I will be shopping for. You definitely have to think of the things that person likes. I was headed in the right direction with the helmet but I did not consider what type I should buy. If I had of been paying attention to what he liked I would have known that my gift was not the right gift.

You will want to consider your budget as well. Until you have decided on a budget there is no reason to go shopping. You will likely spend most of the day looking around in stores. When shopping for a woman’s birthday gift it can be a little harder. However most women do love oils, lotions, and candles. You could try to find out what scent she likes best before buying this.

A personalized gift is a great idea because there are many different things you can choose from. You can have just about anything personalized from a purse to a leather watch. When you personalize a gift it tells the recipient that you put a lot of thought into that gift.

You should also consider someone’s personality when trying to find a birthday gift for them. When you consider whether the person is quirky, shy, loud, elegant, or girlie you have a better chance of finding a gift they will like.

When you try to think of a good birthday gift idea before going shopping you actually have a better chance of finding something they will truly love. When you try to go shopping with out an idea of what you should buy them you might end up getting them something that you like. You have to remember that even though you like it they might not.
